Adventure Land was written by 12-year-old Asher Edelson. He started writing it when he was 10. The story was inspired by all of the books and movies that our young author had been exposed to. He proudly admits that his inspiration includes such masters as J.R.R. Tolkein, J.K. Rowling, and the works of mythology. Asher spends much of his spare time reading mythology from different cultures. He also says that he had gotten inspiration from movies such as Jurrasic Park, and Star Wars. While it is true that there are many stories that have magic, battles and sword fightning, as well as the theme of good versus evil, this story stands strongly as a unique and entertaining work of art. The fact that it was written by a 12 -year -old boy, makes it even more incredible, as it is a professional piece of literature. And, Asher Edelson has Tourette Syndrome, which gives him ticks. These are uncontrollable movements that can interfere with ones ability to perform everyday activities. Asher has developed a typing tick, and while writing Adventure Land. It forced him to hit the space bar and backspace approximately ten times after typing a few sentences. He originally wrote book one and book two as one book that was 440 pages long. Can you imagine writing a book that length, having to have that tick throughout the whole thing? It is a testimonial to determination that he not only completed writing such a large book, but that he is now a published author at 13-years old. Remember, this is the first book in a series (two of which have already been written). It is a great story of good versus evil. On a distant planet, in another dimension, there is a struggle for freedom against an insane tyrant. Gorglin Thild, also known as Lord Lightning, is taking Adventure Land by force. His powerful magic is turning the land into a hellish nightmare, while huge armies of monsters invade neighboring countries. The only thing standing in his way are the heroes who have come together to fight for the freedom and for the lives of the good people of Adventure Land. Leading them is Bear, a seven-foot-tall talking grizzly bear. This epic tale begins the story of courage, cruelty, love and sacrifice. Swept into the middle of this turmoil are four teenagers from Earth, who step through a mysterious portal, and find themselves trapped in this strange new land. Benny Thompson and his friends find that they have undiscovered strengths and talents as they join in the fight against evil oppression. Adventure Land is an enchanted land that has dinosaurs, magic, sword-fighting, wars, romance and comedy. The intelligence that the characters display make this story both enjoyable and entertaining.
