Adventure Land was written by 12-year-old Asher Edelson. He started writing it when he was 10. The story was inspired by all of the books and movies that our young author had been exposed to. He proudly admits that his inspiration includes such masters as J.R.R. Tolkein, J.K. Rowling, and the works of mythology. Asher spends much of his spare time reading mythology from different cultures. He also says that he had gotten inspiration from movies such as Jurrasic Park, and Star Wars. While it is true that there are many stories that have magic, battles and sword fightning, as well as the theme of good versus evil, this story stands strongly as a unique and entertaining work of art. The fact that it was written by a 12 -year -old boy, makes it even more incredible, as it is a professional piece of literature. And, Asher Edelson has Tourette Syndrome, which gives him ticks. These are uncontrollable movements that can interfere with ones ability to perform everyday activities. Asher has developed a typing tick, and while writing Adventure Land. It forced him to hit the space bar and backspace approximately ten times after typing a few sentences. He originally wrote book one and book two as one book that was 440 pages long. Can you imagine writing a book that length, having to have that tick throughout the whole thing? It is a testimonial to determination that he not only completed writing such a large book, but that he is now a published author at 13-years old. Adventure Land: Action Adventure Book in the final stages of Editing.

Adventure Land: Action Adventure Book in the final stages of Editing.
Our Editor just informed us that the editing is complete and is sending back the manuscript. The final changes will be made within the next two weeks and the book should be published some time in August of 2007. Get ready folks - this is a good one. With the second book already written, this could be a long series of heart pounding, thrilling excitement in every page. There are also plans to have the local news media cover the events. Having a 12 year old author (with tourettes syndrome no less) signing books for his fans is certainly a news worthy event. Adventure Land: Action Adventure Book - A Blockbuster Hit?
On Tuesday I spoke with one of the main Editors of the first Adventure Land Book. I was calling to get an update as to when to expect her to finish her work. We are waiting to get the manuscript back, so that we can proceed with publishing the book. I was given an unexpected pleasant report. She said that she has read many manuscripts, and done a lot of editing, but she said that she simply loved it. She said that this has blockbuster hit written all over it. She was excited. I was thrilled! Incredibly, she was basing this on what she had read so far. Meaning that she did not even finish it yet. I found this incredible because I have always felt that this book gets better with every page. Just wait until she finishes it. I also told her that if she loves this one so much, that she will love the second book even more. Book two is more powerful in an emotional way. I told her that it might make her cry. She said that it would take a lot for a book to make her cry, but that if it did, she would be thrilled. In other words, it would take a book of high caliber that is well written and extremely imaginitive to stir such emotions. I really believe that this is such a book. Book one is not as emotional. It is exciting and action packed. Just get your hanky ready for book two, thats all I'm saying. We will not see book two until well after book one hits the book stores and Amazon.com. I always knew that Adventure Land was something special, but to have an outside source read it, and then also feel that way is very comforting, exciting, and validating. Asher Edelson, the author, is only 12 years old. How can a 12 year old write such a book you ask? I don't know either. Some kids are good at baseball and are destined to become the next great hall of fame home run hitter. Asher, I believe is destined to become a best selling author. I have tried to write a book, personally, and it just did not work. The ideas did not come. What I did write was not good. Asher, however, has a river of ideas that flow from him like niagra falls. It is inspiring to see him create this story. He has ideas for an entire series of books. He tells me ideas about book ten, and I always tell him to slow down and just focus on book one. Its all cool. But it was good hearing from the editor. I can't wait until you get your chance to read this book. Then we will see if Adventure Land has blockbuster potential. Coming this summer, if all goes well, is the new book written by young author sensation, Asher Edelson. He is only 12 years old. Asher has a rich imagination. Eddy(Quipishaun)

The nasty brother of Bear's friend, Eddy turns to the dark side and tries to harm Bear. Once Eddy teleports to his master, Lord Lightning, he earns a new name, "Quipishaun". Eddy was a dinosaur originally, so he was also rewarded a human form. Eddy isn't the greatest in combat and magic battles, but later on, his experience in fighting grows. Action, Adventure, Fantasy Despite the odds!

Adventure Land is now in the final stages of editing. It is due to hit the publishing presses this summer - we hope. Adventure Land is the new novel written by Asher Edelson, 12 year old author and son of Dr. Steve Edelson. This is Asher's first novel. Adventure Land was originally a 440 page novel that was broken into two books. The first book will be published sometime in the summer of 2007 and will be available through Amazon.com. The book is terrific and is creating excitement. After reading Adventure Land, one has an easy time imagining it as a motion picture and perhaps even in an interactive computer and video game format. Keep you eyes peeled for this one folks!

Adventure Land, The Strike of Lightning is the first Novel. It has Action Adventure and Fantasy throughout and is an exciting read! It has dragons, magic, sword fighting, romance (rated g - remember that this was written by a 12 year old), and even dinosaurs. This book is full of intelligent humor, evil enemies and smart heroes.

Asher Edelson is a great kid. Do you know that he wrote this book between the age of 10 through 12, and that he did so with tourette syndrome. He develops ticks, which are involuntary movements that he can not control. For whatever activity he is involved in, he often times develops a tick for that. So, he has a few ticks for typing and writing, which made the task of writing his book even more of a challenge. It isn't often that a 12 year old writes a novel. Having tourette's makes it even more incredible. I am proud of him. This is not a children's book with little content and lots of pictures. This was a 440 page novel that we had to break into two novels. The first novel will be published this summer by Booksurge, an Amazon.com company.

The Strike of Lightning

Periquipa

General Periquipa is Gorglin Thild's main servant.
Periquipa was originally a giant spider. Now he looks more like a large ghost with dark robes and plate mail armor. His skeletal hands wield the power of a wand, and more. Periquipa's two weapons include a powerful, black, spike club, and a long, dark sword. He is extremely powerful with the ways of the sword and the will(magic). He is almost as strong as Lord Lightning, his master.
In Book 2, Periquipa is in a gruesome killing scene.
Look out for Periquipa, the terrible, in Adventure Land.

Yellow Spark Flowers Give Powers

Gray, the cat gets magical power from eating yellow spark flowers. He can change in a dragon, 40 foot snake, or an enormous tiger. And he is endowed with magical power as well. Gray only uses his power against enemies.

When Magic fails you - you had better RUN!

For some reason, there are places in Adventure Land where magic does not work. Our heroes find themselves in just such a predicament, and face a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Running seemed like the best option!

“Everyone prepare yourself!” ordered Bear.
The men’s chattering and talking stopped immediately. They heard harsh howling, and saw hundreds of wolves suddenly appear over the opposite hill top.
The wolves were all deadly, yet small, about the size of your ordinary large dog. Then, they attacked! One wolf went for Gray, but Bear slashed it with his sword. The other went for a man, but three men stopped it with their spears.
It was a fierce battle, and the wolves killed fifteen of his valuable men. It finally came down to twenty one wolves, which were all huddled together in a pack. They just growled and got ready to charge at the people. The humans went at the wolves one last time to fight.

It began in the beautiful country. The new day blossomed as a warm sunny morning when Bear stepped out of his house, which was in a large tree covered in red flowers. Redflower trees are extraordinarily rare and this one was enormous. These dazzling trees have flowers that turn a different shade of red each season. Bear’s residence was like a medieval dream home. The center of Bear’s home had a cylinder shaped, well-stocked library. The rest of the rooms were surrounding the library on the outer edge of the home. Most of the rooms had beautiful carpets as warm as a sheep’s wool and paintings as colorful as a rainbow. There were antique torches attached to the walls and torch stands lighting up the house along with homey fireplaces. The sweet smell of honey filled the rooms as if they were honeycombs in a beehive.....
This is the beggining of Adventure Land, chapter one.

Second Grade

My imagination grew more.


In the second grade, for homework, we had to write a short story. I wrote about a bear, named "Bear" who bought a little gray kitten, who he decided to name "Gray". This is where I got the idea for the two main characters of Adventure Land...

Hi I'm Asher Edelson, the author of Adventure Land. How did this all start, you ask?

It all began, with my wild 5 year old imagination. T-rexes, mythical creatures, mighty landscapes, and much more. I was a dinosaur lover. Dinosaurs, dinosaurs, and more dinosaurs. This is how it really began. It started with my prehistoric creation, the Big Giant Turtle. My imagination soon GREW a lot more......

Asher has tics from tourette's, which are involuntary movements. Some of these tics can even create pain and certainly do make ordinary tasks seem difficult. Asher even has a tic when typing, but despite this has written over 440 pages of Adventure Land. Quite a task, even for the ordinary 12 year old.
